Lizards and Dragons
These lizards are hanging around me everytime I sit in the front porch. Very curious and friendly animals, they seem to like their picture taken. (I used the 300mm f/4 IS for these)
Looks like this guy is holding the front legs bent, ready to strike like a Praying Mantis, a behavior I noticed in other dragonflies.
Again, another one with the front legs bent.
This last one was a nice surprice.

Thanks for the words, Aurora. Those lizards would let me get really close to the point where I had to use extention tubes.

Thanks, Russ. I always try to get very close to those subjects. Clearly as close as they let me.

Although I am wondering whether the foreground in #3 is distracting me or pointing me to the subject... hmmm
Thanks for posting!

I appreciate your thoughtfull comments, Van. I took the third shot laying on my belly on the gravel so to separate the subject from the bg. Is the foreground adding to the image? I don't think so. Is it distracting? I don't think so either, mainly because the foregrond color blends in with the subject color. My thinking was that it would give some character to the image. I also think that a little bit higher angle would've probably worked better, while still achieving the separation of the subject from the background.
The funny thing about that shot is that while I was taking it a guy driving by stopped the car and asked me if I needed any help.
Thanks again for your franc comment.
