Just in case it isn't obvious, the pics were in a two page spread in the newspaper Yesterday
The same media agency I dealt with last year (daily Mirror pics) asked for some more pics last week - just burnt a selection on CD and they came round and collected them.
Yes I will get some money for that
I use a canon DSLR (20D) and an MPE-65 lens but you can get similar results with a macro lens around 100mm or shorter and a full set of extension tubes (68mm).

No different to using any lens - I normally use fixed focus and move the camera in as I'm taking shots. The FOV does change a little bit with each slice but the stacking software resizes and matches each slice before stacking them. This is why you normally get a mismatch border around at least two sides of the resulting stack but the stack is actually larger than the original shots so you can crop the borders off. Make sense ?
