RSS recent photos problem

I have a plugin for WordPress that displays photos from SmugMug RSS feeds in the sidebar of a blog. This generally works well but some users have noticed that some feeds don't always work. In particular, the Recent Photos/Recent Galleries seem to have trouble.

I think I've isolated the problem to the HTTP response that the PHP for WordPress "sees", specifically:

[response_code] =>
[status] => 0

I've attached the entire "response." I'm not sure if this is WP failing to correctly parse the response or if the problem may be on the Smugmug side.

Any ideas?
