a few zoo pics
I can't compete with 17 pics, but here's a few...
NIKON 200-400VR/monopod/D2X
Boat Billed Heron (I think according to someone else)
his depressed look:
fast moving gold crown crane:
98, 99, 100, "Ready or Not, here I come!"
Ready, set hut hut!
I been at the gym workin out, can you tell?
Nice kitty... from a prior trip. She's a bit soft, but I still like the image.

Thanks Shasoc, check the detail on the original...
he's here with a few other animal pics.
This copy of the 200-400VR is really quite an excellent performer. I was THRILLED with the Heron pics myself.

You know, I shot an entire series rapid fire action of the chimp coming from the rock wall up to another area where he laid back down, trying to dodge the heat. It's definitely a nice series from my review so far. If there's interest, perhaps I could post the entire series, maybe 15 or 20 shots of the chimp. It would be one of those card sets where you flip the cards fast, and it would be like video. :-)
What's really nice at the zoo, is when you come away with a capture that appears it could be in the wild, showing no real signs of captivity. Each of these shots i've tried to show with that perspective. It's not always possible, nor easy, but it's the challenge of captivity shooting.
xxclixxx, so sorry to hear of the bald eagle. Of the creatures I've seen in captivity, this is one of the saddest to see. He needs to be soaring, wild, untamed.
