What to say about this place? Those of you from the East may already have heard of this unique, historic building. I know that I have been seeing photos of it that were breathtaking, and I could not believe that so many years had passed with barely anything inside being touched. Now renovations are heavily underway and almost every surface has been stripped. She's kind of ugly right now, but her bones are still good.
One day soon some very lucky urbanites will be able to call this place "home."
I had precisely 1 hour to get in, shoot what I want, and get out. Even though it was a highly stressful situation, I am grateful that the developer took the time to give us this rare opportunity.
Hello from across the street!
The famous 10th floor auditorium and chapel:
Typical room now. Bare, shadowed, hollow:
Urban canyon (or, the inner courtyard)
What's in the box? Horror in the attic:

One of the more interesting lower corner rooms:

Thanks gus and Skippy! I always wonder what kind of relics the first people inside were able to find. Much of the furniture is being sold at salvage shops... if I only had a house I was renovating (and a truck)!

I would love to be able to capture some images that looks as if it were 30 years old, but just well preserved, because of the lack of change in the room for a long period of time.
bham I would take the chance if you can get it! You neve know what you can get until you ask, and IMO I'd rather risk being turned down than completely miss the shot. Preservation... what else is photography for??
The floor in that room was actually complete! Most of the rooms had the carpet ripped up... which resulted in floorboards being pulled off, and bare nails.
