Forum posting tricks

I came upon a couple tricks to fool the forum software.

The script tages.
If you put this in (without the spaces)
< s c r i p t> you get ********>
< / s c r i p t> you get </********

but if you bold the s
<script>
</script>

This also works for Img or any other tags.
[Img]
[/Img]
COLOR=red]b[/COLORxxxx  ... without you get ...> xxxx

or just bold the [

bold

Getting smillies?
Bold the :
filter:progid:DXImageTran ... without bold : >> filter:progid:DXImageTran...

So when posting code using this method, instead of having to say "remove the *'s",
this should make it easier for the posters to read and copy.

Edit: Added html posting tricks.
If html is turned on in the forum and you're having trouble with your html
showing, bold all the <'s. Spaces added to show example. [ b ]<[ / b ]

<div id="name"></div>
<a href="link"></a>

Because of a forum software bug occasionally a space will show up in the middle
in some code and anyone copying will get the bogus space.
_filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaIm ageLoader...

If you bold the letter before the space, the space disappears.
_filter:progid:DXImageTransform.Microsoft.AlphaImageLoader...

Just remember to hit the preview button before posting to check you code display.

    I'm not sure what you're trying to do. Is it to make your code easier to
    read? If so, you might want to use an editor, like vim, that highlights text
    instead.

    You can also disable smilies in a post.

    No, it disables smilies in the post. Period.

    The advantage of your method is you can have a mix of smilies/not smilies in the same post. This is on or off for the entire post.

    See? :D
