I have been told that an ideal lens for taking really close up photos is a Sigma 18mm or less or a 28mm or 35mm Fixed Photo Lens to fit my Canon400D. I have looked everywhere for one but cannot find any. Should I be looking for an 18mm something else before Fixed Photo Lens. Can someone please help me and a link to whoever sells them would be most appreciated.

Sigma4Less has a lot of the popular wide-angle prime lenses with Canon EF mount. Start your search there:

    I'm confused,
Are you looking for a macro lens or a fish-eye lens? If you're looking for a fisheye lens then you need something around 10mm, if you want a macro lens then you want the ~90mm macro lense (90, 100, 110) that area.
Ever hear of Optimus Zoom? Me either.

Yikes, I am confused as well! (I should be used to that by now, being who I am. mwink.gif)

Shooting wide (anything below 25mm on a camera with a FLM of 1.3-1.6) allows you to give the perspective of being really close to your subject and requires you to move really close to the object; but it distorts perspective and the depth of field not as shallow as on a longer lens.

If you want to see really small fine detail of an object; say like an eye of a dragon fly you will want a macro lens.
