Well, it looks like all this time my lens is the issue. I tought I had a good thing when I bought the "L" lens, but I was wrong,

I sent Canon an E-mail about an RMA since its only 10 months old.

I wonder how long I will be without my lens?

Minimum focus distance for the Canon EF 70-200mm, f2.8L is just under 5 ft., and I think that is for the 70mm focal length. You shot the sample at 200mm, correct?

Are you sure you were at a safe distance from the target? (I normally suggest 2x minimum focus distance for the test. Obviously, the lens is capable of focussing closer, but the test itself complicates matters.)

Some folks have attached vertical "targets" at the center point of that particular test, claiming that it yields more accurate results having a more positive target for the camera to key against.

I'm just trying to make sure your method truly reflects a problem before you go through the rather tiresome task of returning the lens and waiting for repairs.

I shot the target at 70 and at 200. I was about 5 feet away. I can reshoot the target from about 10 feet no prob though

    Thanks for the input!
