Meh...some egrets and herons.
Toward the end of July I went out to one of the well known birding spots in Dallas. It is White Rock Lake in far northeast Dallas. During the winter there are oogles of migrating birds there. It is a very interesting place. Now...not so much, but I did find the ubiquitous herons and egrets.
First I saw this guy, Great Egret
I asked him to move a bit to the left. He squawked at me. He was probably hurling egret profanity at me.
He started to walk off.
Then jumped into some reeds.
And that was it. Like I said...meh. :rolleyes
I went over to the old fish hatchery and spillway. The spillway had some nice action.
Let's see...Black Crowned Night Heron wading...
A different Black Crowned Night Heron wading....
Wait, I have some action. Wading with mouth closed.
Wading with mouth opened.
The action was so fever-pitched that a snowy came by to see what was going on. It proceeded to wade in the water too. :huh
I decided that I had had enough action for one day. But as luck would have it. Some bird poo and a lot of noise caught my attention. I set my tripod back up and focused my lens to find just about every feral monk parakeet in the Dallas area in one tree. I will show you just two of them.
The first one was alone at first.
Then it was joined. I don't know if sweet-nothings were exchanged or some unkindness but this is what happened.
Then they lock beaks.
Oh well, but luckily when I left, the action really took off. Scroll down.

Two turtles were sunning!
Like I said, meh. Return to work. Enough bandwidth has been wasted.

I especially like the first heron shot.
Nice work.

Yes, that did bother too after the fact. I didn't notice that at the time. Thanks for looking and commenting. I appreciate it.

Wished it could have been more, but the day was not a total loss, there just wasn't too much action. It's too freaking hot now!

Thanks Glenn. Texas is a good place to be a birder, but still you guys out in Cali have some unique birds that I can not get here in my area plus I think your wildlife is a bit accessible. I dunno. For me to really get some neat wildlife, I'd have to go to far southwest Texas. That's like 9-10 hours away.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thank you so much Shasoc.
