Excellent. When I try outdoor fill flash I always get the tattletail catchlights in the eyes, only they aren't exactly pleasing catchlights. I can never get eyes to look like that. I like them both. What is your process for cross processing? I have a few landscape shots I think would look good in cross process.

    Thanks Jeff!

If you look closely, you can tell that I'm wearing all black in his reflection, and there's a little white square. I think the long focal length (~220mm in 35mm) helped to minimize the size of the flash in his eyes, (right?)

I used a Lightroom preset called Bleach Bypass. I've found it works best on overexposed images, and then tweak to taste. The black level is usally wayyyy too high.

    Lynne,

You know I love these! I really like the crop on the second one even better (than when I saw it before)! His eye position and the line of his shoulder and arm are very pleasing. There is just the teeeeniest little spot in the upper left corner that shows the edge of the slide (I think?) We're talkin' teeeny!

I'll say it again...great shirt on that super cute guy! :D

Thanks David, Andi, Marina and Elaine! I see that spot now, E! Thanks for pointing it out. I like the new crop too.

There's some banding in the blue area in the upper RH corner, does anyone else see that? I am not sure if it is a result of upping contrast or my crappy work monitor. I'm worried how it might come out in a large print. I'm thinking about ordering a 16x20 wall mount.

    Lynne,

I really like #2 - very well done. Love the expression. And, man do I know how fast the little ones can move.

Care to share your EC and FEC settings on this one? It looks like FEC was either 0 or some small positive increment. Just wondering.

Looks like FEC was 0, you're right. I believe I underexposed the background (M) 1/3 or 1/2 stop. Is there any way to tell for sure from the EXIF?

    f3.2, ISO 200, 1/250, 139mm.

The EXIF won't tell you if you under/over exposed anything. It will tell you camera settings. One way I know to get ALL the EXIF is to use the EZBrowser that came with your camera. It will give you all that information in nauseating detail.
