I'm new at this, so be gentle.
These are a few pictures from my recent trip to Hawaii.
This one is the sunset over a marina (you can see the masts on the horizon).
This one is a picture on the beach. Some woman left her bag on the beach to go snorkeling, and when I looked up this lost kayak had positioned itself perfectly. I realize it could be a lot lighter, but it was a surprise shot.
This one is a luck shot. It was the sunset of my first night there. Under this large palm tree on the right was the shower that surfers use to wash off their boards. Unfortunately, I couldn't catch one there.
I'd love to hear what you think. Thanks!

Nice shots.
The first one is very sharp and the sun was at a perfect level for this capture. I think maybe if you would have gotten a tad more sky, and a bit less ground, it would have gave this picture more "oomph". You could have also taken a closer shot of the palms silhouettes against that gorgeous sky?
The second shot has nice composition, and would have a been a great if that yatch wouldn't have been on the horizon. That's just my opinion though. It's just too distracting and doesn't go along with the "rustic getaway" feel I get from this shot. Saturation needs to be adjusted, but you already said you knew that.
I love the composition, clarity and saturation of the third shot! The only thing that's off is that pipe (?) that's sticking out of the ground beside the palm tree.
These shots make me want to visit Hawaii now! I'm now dreaming of white sand and baby blue water.... *sigh*

You got some nice shots there and the 3rd one is really good. Your horizon is a tad tilted in the first shot but otherwise its just fine. I would fool around with curves and saturation on the 2nd shot to give it some more punch. #3 I wouldn't touch its fine as is.
What camera are you using?

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
These are all nice. I think you know what's good about each of them and you even stated what you felt needed improvement... so I'll just share some personal preferences;
#1 - I don't like to frame between two trees. I might have moved a few feet and bunched 2 trees on the right.
#2 - too much going on dead center of the photo
#3 - especially nice but oh for the love a surfer standing under the shower, huh? maybe next time!
good work. thanks for sharing.

Gentle? Great shots! Beautiful sunset in the 3rd! A bit of Photoshop magic and they'd be perfect (close to it maybe)
