I didn't know the pay was according to the size. I thought mags just purchased the right to use an image then either used it whole page, half or whatever. Congrats Gus. Very nice.

Thanks guys. They indicated 1/4 page to secure a better price. They then used it full page.Nice introduction to their world. They will be doing a different talk next time i can assure you. There are not many downhill photographers in this part of 0z.
First off, congrats! Second off I would definitely write them a nice "polite" letter stating how the image use was not according to how you were requested it be priced at. There's no excuse for that.

At least you got paid something. From my experience web-only magazines pay zip zilch zero for images.

    Nice Gus!

You should send them a letter requesting the difference between 1/4 and
full page. Give them 10 days to pay or else...I'm working on the or else
part and will get back to you lol3.gif

    Congrats on getting published!

Yeah some magazines take a really long time to pay, most dont even pay you unless they publish your photos.

Just be glad you gotten' paid, I've had a magazine pay 3 months later (which was my very first yet most aggravating experience, ever). The shortest time from another magazine was like, 2-4 weeks.

Feels good to see your name on a page though don't it? Congrats again! clap.gif

Just wait till you get paid.
What's the magazine? I've had a few published (Cycling photos).
Reguarding the payment - generally the mags will have a set rate depending on the size they use. I am almost certain the check you receive will be for the size printed.

Did you negotiate your fee for the image?
If you did, I'm curious if you could PM/email me with the rate. I have a feeling they allowed you to do this as your rate may have been below what they normally pay and you could have short changed yourself. As I mentioned most Mags have a set rate to pay for photos depending on the size of use.
