Paul, very nice colors and crispness to a critter that isn't particularly, uhh,
crispy.
The second shot makes his neck seem reeeeeeeeally long
I'm not partial to the stark shadows caused by the flash, but I think your lighting caught some great details in the shell and skin patterns!

They were taken at around midnight, so I had to use flash at -1 EV.

Our garden has hundreds of the little sods, nibbling this and that...
The sound of "crunching boots" is so musical in the samll hours as they are systemmatically dealt with. Harsh, but needed!
