So I am really wanting to get do a poster sized pic of each of my kids. I like the rough and rugged look so I really like the look of this picture, but I am wondering if you think I should hold off and try to get another of him with more light in his eyes. This was just a snapshot when we were outside cleaning up from storm damage. but I really liked the look, just am unsure if he has enough light in his eyes.

your thoughts GREATLY appreciated.

I would hold off for a couple of reasons:
    • As you mentioned, his eyes are dark. You can fix this in the next shoot with a little fill light, either from a flash or reflecter.
    • A photo of a child is often more interesting and pleasing when taken from their level, rather than from your where you are looking down on them.

Scott - thanks for the honesty. Truly agree with you on being at their level only reason I wasn't here is I hated the backdrop behind him. I swear I spend more time shooting from my knees and lying on the ground than standing that's for sure. And the light in the eyes is driving me crazy because I usually have a reflector to add light, but this was just a quick shot while we were cleaning up brush. Great to hear your thoughts, I appreciate it!!! And your suggestions!

Just wait till he hits puberty! rolleyes1.gif

I like the light, texture and contrast much better in this one. I have the hardest time deciding on shots to blow up of my son, too. I think it's that I know I can always take another/better one, so I hold off! headscratch.gif
