    Congratulations! I scrolled and, more important, I CLICKED on both of the 2005 and 2006 links. You did a fine job of documenting the reenactments of the events. They also did a fine job of reenacting the event. The photos look very authentic. Nice work. thumb.gif

    OK, Nik. I was telling my wife about this and the great shots you guys had taken and she was a little surprsied. She didn't know there had been a Civil War battle ... in Moorpark CA headscratch.gif .

    California wasn't exactly part of US when the whole Independence thingie happened either, but this doesn't stop us having the fireworks on Fourth of July :-)

    Funny you should mention celebrating the 4th of July outside the US, Nik.

    The following plaque is displayed in present day New Mexico, but when the 4th of July was first celebrated in 1831 by American citizens on the Santa Fe Trail, they were actually outside US territory in the Republic of Mexico itself then.
