Grainy B&W Conversion Attempt

Tried to get some grain in here and show some conversion to B&W. Any tips appreciated:

    this is the method I like to use-

    I believe I got this from one of the wow! books-



    hold alt down and click on create a new layer button-
    mode to soft light-
    click on fill with 50% gray-
    click on ok-
    go to filter>noise>add noise-
    click on gaussian blur and monochromatic and preview-
    add amount above what you want-
    click on ok-
    you can add filter>blur>blur-
    and you can dial it down with the opacity slider-
