Online Photo Storage

Ever since I started taking digital pictures, I've used Google's Picasa Web Albums to store and share those pictures with friends, family, and the outside world.

It seems to be a somewhat stable service, although it's a little slow, and rarely updated. I love the the Picasa program, but the Web Album aspect leaves a bit to be desired.

I'm curious to know what others are using. Does somebody know of a better site to hold pictures, and share them? Perhaps something with a mass uploader; I can't browse to each photo one at a time (especially when I'm uploading 700 pictures at a time :D)

Any information would be much appreciated!

Hello Andrew and welcome to Dgrin. Smugmug isn't free, but it's well worth the nominal cost. No ads, no spam, no storage limits, generous bandwidth quotas, classy appearance, quality print service, extensive customization options and the best customer support services on the Web. What's not to like?

    Disclaimer: I am not a Smugmug employee...just a satisfied customer. :D

hi andrew, i used to use picasa web albums until i came across this post. i probably should have read through the TOS more carefully, but it didn't really matter to me when i first joined. it may seem like nitpicking, but it just makes me feel uncomfortable... anyway, now i'm really happy with smugmug :)

Unlimited amount of picture storage, unprecedented and excellent customer service, and cheap, (roughly 8 *bucks coffees a YEAR) and you've got no spam, no one has to "join" to see the pics...

    Andrew C,

I'm in the same boat so to speak. I've paid for the upgraded storage at Google last year, then found Smugmug a few months later. I'll be switching in October. I'm not familiar with the interface to upload images, etc., but I'm sure it's straight forward. I like the simplicity of Picasa, but I've started to out grow it.

    Hi, Andrew,

Just go to the www.smugmug.com home page and read about this host. Reasonable fees - unlimited, reliable storage - beautifully laid out themes - no ads floating around everywhere - drag and drop uploading - user friendly - I can't think of anything it lacks.
