Error with your upload

We're sorry, but there was an error with your upload. Please try again.

That's the error I've been receiving lately when I try to upload (using the IE uploader) a batch of files. I usually select all files I want to upload and proceed to the upload. I can see the progress bar going on normally, but sometime later I see the above error.

When I go check the gallery, I see that some files are missing, so I repeat the process with the missing files only.

When the files are uploaded, I see that there are some repeated files...

What may be happening?

I apologize if this question was already asked... in that case, could you point me to the thread where this has been discussed?

Thanks

    Thanks

I frequently get that message using the Windows Internet Explorer uploader but the files actually seem to be there. I get the message about half of the time and usually its when it's with a fairly large batch.

    Hey padu,

That's a pretty rude and unhelpful error message and if I were you I'd be a little bit miffed about it. You were ever-so-polite considering... :D

I looked in your upload log and here's what I found:

    DSC07597.jpgupload problem: > 8MB - file size too large

First, I'll fix that error message so it's not so unhelpful. Second, I'll see what we can do to increase the file size limit.

What camera are you using to get a file bigger than 8 MB? Are you adjusting in Photoshop first and saving at a compression setting of 12? If so, if you save it as 11 you should be golden. You won't notice a quality change even if you print it huge. Even the top pro printers like whcc ask that files be submitted saved as 10s, because there is no visual quality difference but the size in bytes increases exponentially as you go to 11 or 12.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks,
    Chris

    Baldy,

tks for the reply. The 8GB limit is another error that I used to have. I shoot using a sony alpha (10 mp), and I was exporting photos in lightroom using the 100 quality factor. I changed to 95 and eversince the file size is non-issue.

In the last two uploads that I got that error message the files weren't larger than 4MB, and I think it matches what cardon described.

Could you try and see if it works with our Universal Drag & Drop uploader? You can find it by clicking on 'different uploader' at the bottom of the simple uploader screen.
