Firefox and java uploads

Is there anyone out there successfully using the Firefox browser and the "other platforms java-based batch uploads" feature on Smugmug?

I'm using Firefox 1.0 and have the latest version of Java (1.5) installed. I've tested my configuration at the java site and it is operating properly.

Everytime I attempt to use the batch upload, I'm able to select a group of photo files and move them into the upload window. But when I click on "upload" it appears that a small portion of the first file is uploaded, but then the time remaining indicators both start to show a steadily increasing amount of time remaining, and no more data appears to be transferring. When I finally give up and abort the process, Firefox is routinely locked up and I have to re-boot the computer.

If anyone is having success using Firefox, I'd really like to know how you have it configured.

Thanks,

Kent

I've been using Firefox for a while now with the same setup, nothing special.

Does that mean you're able to do batch java uploads?

I have the same issue on my computer, and it was directly related to my network card driver of all things. It kills my entire connection until a reboot. Bottom line? That Java uploader is problematic at best. It is licensed technology unfortunately, so we don't really have access to change it.

I personally use SendToSmugmug right now for my uploading:
    SendToSmugMug

Thanks. I wasn't sure if those would work with Firefox. Am I correct in assuming that they are independent of the browser being used?

yes. Both of those programs are entirely stand-alone. With the SendtoSmugmug one, you just right click on the folder on your hard drive you want to upload and select the new option "Send to Smugmug".

With the Smugmug Explorer, you fire up the program and drag photos onto the galleries.

"Send to Smugmug" (shell extension) is gonna be an add-on for Smugmug Explorer as soon as I'm done with the sales info import (there was a custom request for the latter:-). Most of the coding is done, need some UI polish, integration and testing. Probably not this weekend, but very likely the next one.
