Why is it that my clients can not buy a 4MPX digital download? The message they see is that "the photo is too small to buy this item." I've uploaded full-res images. The thing I noticed is that my uncropped images are avail as 4MPX downloads, but the ones I cropped on my end with CS2 are too small to purchase. Is there a min. resolution for these to be available as a 4MPX download? My uploads were > 4MP and I am cropping from an 8MP Canon 30D .jpg. Is there a asepect ratio you would reccomend for cropping? I can't not crop my images in CS2 just to be able to sell the 4MPX version on SmugMug. Is therer a way around this?

I had to up-res cropped photos and save with less compression to get them
big enough for upload and selling. The file has to be bigger then 4meg.

The 4mb file-size is clear to me now. But how on earth do you up-res a crop?

Does not have to be 4mb.

The files must be larger than 4megapixels (that's file dimensions) if you want to offer Original, Hi-res (4mpix) and/or Low-res (1Mpix) files.

ANY file can be sold as a Dig Download, if you upload it, and sell it as Original :)

So if I set my prices under bulk pricing, the customer has to pay the higher-priced "original" price for a file that's <4mp (provided the 4mp file is "too small to purchase" as a 4mp download)? Would that mean I would have to figure out which crops are <4mp and set the price for each picture manually (provided I want to set "original" prices to match my 4MP prices on photos that are "too small to download" as 4mp pics?

Yeah I would think you'd want to price these files differently, than say, a full-size, full-rez original.

As a side note, I don't sell 4MP images. I only sell 1MP and originals. Then I don't have to worry about this....

I've never had anyone purchase anything other than the 1MP, though, because I price the original pretty high. (On purpose.) My thought is that a 4 MP image can be printed pretty large anyway so why not just go with a full res file?

Photogmomma, that's a good idea. I think I'm going to set my prices that way. Thanks for the reply iloveyou.gif

Sounds like you're all set now but just in case:

Image- image size -- increase the dimensions and use bicubic or bicubic smoother, hit enter, and voila, you have a bigger file.
