Cobourg Aviary (my rear deck); Studies in Flat Light

When I took these images on my rear deck yesterday morning it was fully overcast. The light was very flat and the values quite low.

All shots were taken with my 1D MkIIn, 300/2.8L IS, 1.4xTC, ISO800, f/4, 1/250 sec.

I also slipped this one in although it was taken later in the day at Halls Road using my 400/5.6L on the BushHawk. Exposure data was the same.

Great shots! The detail is phenomenal. You must get very close even with the 300mm+1.4TC. My only nit would be I guess that in pic 5 you have one really hot spot on top of the head. Other than that all are excellent pics. I'd be more than proud.

Thanks a lot, Stephen. You're very kind. The shooting distance on some of these is about 15-20 feet. This combo crops very well.
