Thanks Ric! If it's a coot's cousin, it's a very distant one - this guy is tiny, the body size is not too much bigger than a sparrow! :D

Whoa! I didn't realize they were that small...that makes the capture even more special! :D

So...they look like little coots. wings.gif

Congrats Big Al! clap.gif If these guys are anything like the rails here, then they are very difficult to photograph.

That must be related to rails. Rails are notoriously shy, at least the ones I have seen. I only have a distant shot of a clapper rail running for cover. Your is very handsome with the red legs, black body, red eyes and yellow beak. Congrats! thumb.gif

Thanks Glenn - they are difficult to capture as they usually dash off into the reeds as soon as they see the camera :D

Thanks Stephen! They are very definitely related to rails and very similar in behaviour. It's because he is such a handsome chap that I wanted a decent pic so badly. :ivar

Thanks! I think the beamer helped a lot in getting the exposure right.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
