Goldfinch having a bad hair day... and a few others from today's deck safari.

We had severe thunderstorms roll through the area earlier today and I wonder if the branch this male goldfinch was perched on took a lightning strike.

Great ruby throated hummer pics and that goldfinch is very nice. The "bad hair" day only makes more interesting. And those last shots are about as close as I have seen a male house finch.

If I was a bird and looked like that goldfinch I don't think I'd leave the nest until my molting was done. Or I'd had a bath.
