Im thinking about starting a blog. Is smugmug going to be offering anything like this, or do I have to use another source?

I'm not sure the best way.

Edit: Or would it be better to just get a Domain name, and use that page for blog / smugmug name.
Thanks in advance:D
Thankyou

Pamela

There are so many folks that do it, and do it better than we could. Blogspot? Wordpress? More...

    Andy

Im trying to make it easier for others to find me online, by getting a doamin name , I think it would help.

But, the name I want is used by another. My choice is to use the name I want
but with ".net" , or ".org" . I wont have the ".com" choice.

Will that be a problem with using that with my smugmug account?

    Thanks again
    Thankyou

    Andy

    Thank you

I applied for my name, it will be a ".net"
Now how will this effect the customers who have the original web address?
Will they be able to find me still with it?
I went with yahoo domains, in case you need to know that?:D
    Thankyou

Im in the yahoo (DNS) section, do I select a CNAME to edit, with my new name that has an * next to it?
    If I do , am I only typing in www.smugmug.com /or www.exposed-images.smugmug.com?

Edit: I just noticed that there is such a thing as domain forwarding with yahoo. Is that a better way to do this ?
    Thankyou

    Pamela,
I use domain forwarding with two different .com names. Both point to my website here at smugmug.
You might consider purchasing several. I have these two.
    www.lawsonimages.com
    www.barrymathia.com

I figured in the beginning it would be to hard for people to remember my name so i went with the lawsonimages site.
My official name with the state is barry mathia photography but everyone knows me as lawsonimages.
Not sure how yahoo does it...both of mine were setup through godaddy.

I have to check to see if they have a blog feature...I know they have email accounts that I use.

If you're looking for a place to host a blog... I have my blog at blogger.com, and I link to it from my smugmug site (and I link back to my galleries from my blog). Quite a few of other smuggers also have blogs hosted there. I've been quite happy with the features / ease of use, might be worth a try if you are thinking of starting a blog.

Thanks Denise...I like your website and your blog.

I will look into it. I have to be careful....my website is one of the very few that the high school will allow the kids to look at when they are in class.
I will have to check to see what the ramifications will be if there are links to other sites.

Take care....and I said a little prayer for you and your family.

I use Blogger (the Google service). Currently my Smugmug galleries are gallery.liquidairphoto.com (or galleries.liquidairphoto.com) and my blog is at blog.liquidairphoto.com. My homepage (www.liquidairphoto.com) is hosted by Gate.com. I have put together a common nav bar across all three sites in the attempt to give my presence a homongenous appearance despite the disparate hosting services.
