remove a ps effect from .jpg image?

If I've put a filter effect into an image, then save it as a .jpg format (flattening the file in the process, of course), is there any way to remove that filter effect and get the original image back?

I'm fairly new to ps, so if this is a dumb question, my apologies.

I'm guessing there is no way, but figured I'd ask some experts!

    Nope, not recent.

In fact, it was ps'd by someone else for me. Before I had ps.

If you saved original image with the effect as an original, then you out of luck. If you saved it as something else, then you still should have an original. Hope it made sence. It is always a good idea to keep original images elsewhere and save edited version with another name. I usually add 1 or 2 or whatever else to edited shot.
