I took this photo of a ghost at the Mansfield Reformatory, this closed prison was use in the movies "Shawshank Redemption" and "Air Force One" and is supposed to be haunted.

The photo is of the ghost of a dead photographer, the photographer was sentenced to life for killing off film and he later died in prison and roams the cell blocks!!!!:D

Beautiful old place! I have seen a few jails but nothing quite as decayed as that one. It looks gorgeous, on the scale of Eastern State or even better!

    Nice ghosts, too. thumb.gif

Wow, I had to go out to the Reformatory many many moons ago to get a prisoner to sign some papers. He was about as big as the actor on "The Green Mile" but just about as gentile. The place has REALLY changed since I saw it. Thanks for the memories. I didn't even know they closed it.

    Thanks everyone for your comments!!!:D

The Reformatory was very accomodating to our group of photographers, we were in the Reformatory from 8am to noon. The first hour they gave us a tour of the place and told us the history of the prison. Then they gave us free run of the place, we could go where ever we wanted unescorted. They left the lights off so we could photograph with the natural light coming through the windows. It was a photographers paradise. I couldn't belive they put two people in those small cells. They didn't even seem big enough for one person.

If you're ever in the Mansfield Ohio area make sure you check the place out. For more information on the Mansfield Reformatory go here:
