70-200 f/2.8 non-IS question

I finally gave in to my NEED :D and bought a used 70-200 F2.8L (not the IS version). It seems really nice so far but there was one thing that seemed a bit funky, so I wanted to ask you experts about it.

I have the f/4 version and it is silky smooth if you zoom it from stop to stop. On the new lens, it hesitates slightly around 135mm. It's not like it sticks or anything. It feels more like one of those zooms that extends for parts of it's range and then retracts for the rest - you know the kind of lag you feel as it reverses itself? Like that.

Anyone notice anything like that on yours? I kind of think that it's just the extra mass compared to the f/4 that I'm noticing, but I thought I'd ask anyway!

TIA

I feel a very slight "drag" coming back from 200mm, but moving from 70mm to 200mm is very smooth.

Thanks Z, that's good info. It must just be the mass of the glass!

I had this lens for 3 years and works smoothly every way.
But some resistance happens in some lenses, it's pretty usual,

As long as it's working I wouldn't worry too much. My copy is smooth throughout.

my 2.8L has a slight variation in the zoom resistance too... my 70-200/4L is smoother (and a lot lighter duty feeling) .
