Orange Bishops
These are a 1st for me, there are two colors at the location whare I captured these, one is more of a yellow the other brite orange/red in color.
When I first saw these they were quite a ways off across the river, my curiosity and lack of reach got the better of me so with my new MK3 and my trusty 400 I walked across the shallows of the river and captured these, hope you enjoy looking at them.

I am envious of you practiced bird shooters. Heck I get blurred pictures with anything moving faster than a mountain...:cry

Nice set!
Dave, you probably won't see it as it's an African bird, which seems to be an escapee in the LA area. I posted some pics here a while back, and Jeff commented on it in that thread:

btw, the African name is Red Bishop
Bugs
Spiders
Flowers
It's so easy to blow the red channel on these little guys, but you didn't seem to have that problem.
Thanks Al, I went back last night for a reshoot the results are much better in the evening light.
These are of the weaver family, they were introduced into North America from Africa where they are considerd pests
I really like your captures,nice.

Hey Russ how goes it, these are really tough to capture, the light is critical as with everything, these want to definently blow the red channel, they are so vibrant that early or late light is critical to a successful shoot with them
