A very basic question about umbrella brackets.

In general do you stand the bracket so the light and the umbrella move together. Or do you flip the bracket around so the umbrella stays in one place while only the light swivels?

Umbrella brackets are set up so that the strobe and umbrella move together. Some have a cold shoe on top so that you cannot reverse that setup and still have functionality.

Sometimes I flip the bracket around because I use relatively small umbrellas. I find if the umbrella always moves with the light then the light is focused only on the top portion of the umbrella.

If I keep the umbrella stationary, then I can focus the light towards the middle of the umbrella.
