    I meant no harm towards other countrys....as a matter of fact I made another post right after this one found Here were I said .....
    Country Pride. I have a strong emotion for my wonderful country. And I know that others on the board are from other countries and I love to see other flags and maybe a brief breakdown of what all it represents. I think this challenge would be educational as well as fun. So what do you say........Lets see some flags!

    Angelo, never occured to me that images of our Flag would do anything but make us feel all warm and fuzzy. Besides the USofA is made up of peoples from all over ther WORLD, born in, Offenbach, Germany myself.

    How about show us your PRIDE no matter what country your in. I'd like to see some other "Flags" thumb.gif

    The USA is fine but Ubekestan is pretty cool too. I always get mixed feelings when I hear terms like "American Pride". It makes it sound like we have a monopoly on it, Its like "God Bless America". I mean like why? If any folks need any blessing I would hope those in the Sudan get it. Oh well

    Very few here fly our flag...we are quite different people in that way. I only know of 1 or 2 houses in our town of a few million that have a flag pole & i drive all day.

    ne_nau.gif I dont know why its so different. Possibly our convict beginnings have something to do with it.Legislation was passed last year to make it compulsory for schools.

    I see the Aboriginal flag more often than the 0z flag.

    I went around Europe on a motorbike in June last year. The last couple of days were spent in Normandy. I wanted to see the beaches and the Cemetary at Omaha Beach.


    This path featured in the opening scene of "Saving Privat Ryan".

    A few day previously I had stopped at Oradour Sur Glane, a village near Limogues.

    You can google for information but briefly, the inhabitants were masaccred by German troops. The french have turned the village into a memorial site.

    The Normandy landings, and the horrific loss of life were (without sounding pompous) for a noble reason. I would highly recommend a visit if any of you ever get the opportunity.

    Omaha Beach looking from the surfline inland. Luckliy I picked a part of the beach where the seawall was still intact. The weather was terrible and it gave some idea of what the GI's faced. It shows how far they had to run to get cover from the machine gun fire.

    The nearby museum is excellent and is worth a visit. As you know last year was the last time that the Normandy landings will be comemmorated.

    When you do your tour of Europe put Normandy on the list along with the Stelvio pass. The war museum in Caen will take half a day to get around. I only had a day in Normandy and will go back to do it properly.

    God Bless America for her diverse and many citizenry who endure hardships in order to improve their daily lives.

    These, the chariots of worldly possessions of a throng of homeless men and women who converge each morning at a public park where they find the ability to "bathe" in a toilet. Many then "work" the neighborhoods cleaning up lawns, parking lots and this very park, at all times hoping for a kindly hand-out so they may feed themselves.

    Yes, even in America, where a beloved president such as Ronald Reagan was praised for turning thousands of people, many mentally unstable, out into the streets by ending funding for mental care, indigent centers and half-way houses.
