I've tried contacting dreamhost.com who manages my domain for support. They don't know what i'm trying to do. I'm trying to use my subdomain to forward to my smugmug gallery. Anyone else using Dreamhost that could help me out?

I followed the other tutorial for the other domain managers. All I have to do is change the cname to www.smugmug.com Right?

Hey Chris. If I understand correctly you're trying to map a subdomain for your custom host name. Something like I've got (http://photos.mikelanestudios.com/ is my smugmug acct, http://www.mikelanestudios.com/ is a completely different non-smugmug thing).

That is easy on DH. Just log on to your DH control panel, click on manage domains and then click on the DNS link on the top-level domain. So for me it is mikelanestudios.com. Note: do NOT create the subdomain. In my case, I did not want to create photos.mikelanestudios.com. When you get the manage domains page scroll down to the add custom DNS record part. Make it look something like the attached image (but with your info, not mine).

Hope that helps. But it's late here and reading is hard so I may have mis-understood your problem. If so just set me straight. thumb.gif
