Good shot, i think this one is much better compared to your other b&w one. I think there is a yellowish tint on her face, or may be it's my monitor ne_nau.gif

In fact it looks a little bit too yellow on her face.

There are other remarks I would like to add:

    1. There is a too large difference in light and detail between her face and her blouse. I suppose you are shooting RAW but anyway if you are not, you should balance those two areas with masks, giving more detail and better light in both areas.

    2. Be more careful about the background.
Yours is not a bad one but be aware of it. I'm sure you can improve it.
Sometimes it may be too distracting, unless you intend to do so, what obviously you don't.

    3. I like her body posture and the angle you have chosen to take her picture.

    4. Another suggestion: (if you don't do it already !) shoot 50 pictures under different angles, different smiles and so forth and get one super picture. Move around her, make her interact with you, smile, laugh whatever that makes her feel good and cooperative.

    5. I like that light coming from the sky.

Others may have to say more than I do and give you better advice.
I hope I've been not too rude. headscratch.gif

Thank you both for your awesome comments...

    Antonio,

Don't ever worry about being "Too rude" If i didn't want the info, I wouldn't ask for it. Your response and suggestions couldn't have been better.

    Thank you for them.

At first I didn't see "too much yellow" in the image. But now after looking at the image in the thread, I can see what you're saying.

Here is another version. Let me know if you feel this is any better.

I think my last levels adjustment may have messed things up a tad.

    Steven.
Remember that I am no expert what so ever. I am just trying to help. TRYING.

    The second one is better.

However, I can see that, while the face is better, the detail in the blouse is similar in both pictures.

    Sugestion:

    1. Go to RAW.
Open the picture "calibrating" for the face.
    2. Go to RAW again.
    Open the
    picture "calibrating" for the blouse.

Don't over do it. I mean don't exagerate, neither on the 1.st nor on the 2.ed picture.

Try to analyze the curves on both and adjust it on both as well.
    Flatten layers.

    Control+A on the 1.st pict
    Control+V on the second one.
    Make a mask.
Reveal the best parts from the bottom picture retaining the best parts of the top picture.

Huuummm. Did I make myself understand ?

Want to send me the picture for me to try ?headscratch.gif

I hope you don't mind, i decided to play with your shot just a bit. What do you think of this? I dont fully trust my monitor calibration skills. It might be too much magenta?

I think this pose is a bit more flattering, but there are weird color splotches on her face. B & W?

    Hi Steven!

    First of all, great shot!
    It's a well-made, no-nonsense portrait of a very good-looking lady. thumb.gif

Also, the version (regarding colors/processing) I like the best is the one quoted below.

Color looks only very very very very very very (...) slightly warm, which I really like, and the tones on her face are 'solid', thus not anymore on the verge of blowing (ie, too white). It has the best skin tones I've seen throughout this whole thread.

I'd leave it more or less at that, but I dunno, one thing you might be tempted to try is to up the shadows a little bit, 'cause you see there is a large portion of her blouse that goes deep into the shadows. That's pretty much what Antonio suggests on his last post.

If you look at Marina's (ShepsMom's) reply, despite the fact that her version of the picture has a bit too much magenta (for my taste, that is), you'll see that she did just that: upped the shadows on that blouse, and you can see the result: erm... let's say... extra... volume, for a lack of better wording... :uhoh

If I decided to go that way, I would probably do some sort of dodging and burning (dodging actually, since it's the operation that ligthens tones), that is, selective lightening so that it gets more subtle instead of over-the-top.

Bear in mind those are all suggestions. I suggest stuff some of my ideas might click with what you like or what you have/had in mind. thumb.gif

And of course the B&W is really nice too.

    Thanks so much for posting!
    Take care! mwink.gif

I know, i'm not that good a PP lol, as you can see. I agree on magenta, which i initially mentioned. Shadows, well, that's something to play with. I also increased contrast somewhat and sharpened it a bit. May be too much perhaps?

Everyone suggestions are good, and we all have our differnt "likes" as to what shot should look.

Just keep shooting and experimenting, it's YOUR vision! :D
