m8o in Northern Tanzania '07 ...a Link to it that is... (serious d/l warning!)
I'm finally posting images of my trip to Tanzania as I've finally gotten through about 1.5 days of the 10 day safari. Still 2500 RAWs to get through!
The main thread is under the "Journeys" forum. I decided to post it there at I'm filling the post with a lot of hot air too... :rofl annotating each or group as I go. You can find it here: m8o in Northern Tanzania '07 (serious d/l warning!) . I hope you enjoy viewing as much as I enjoyed being there and taking them.
Excerpts of the "best of" excerpts:
Please visit m8o in Northern Tanzania '07 (serious d/l warning!) in the 'Journeys' forum for about 10x more ... and about 100x more within about 2 -3 weeks! :barb I won't be posting any more images here but rather will be maintaining that thread. (well, maybe I'll post one or two teasers here for shooting some days, but that's it!)

There's an actual story that goes with that [first] shot, which you can read in my main thread on our trip:

...perfect example of why I decided to put it all under 'Journeys' rather then here actually.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

"Natura artis magistra"
Shasoc, I gave the 1st one another treatment closer to the original (WB and tint adjust) which I like much better. It maintains the green of the hillside at the other end of the little valley too.
I didn't crop it. better when cropped. however this has its attaction too, as you get a better sense of the edge of the branch the baboon was willing to go to to think it's getting away from the lioness.
It's amazing how much detail is in the shadow... (another treatment)
Not that I like that, just surprised how easy Lightroom can pull the detail out of the RAW.
| FYI all, I just updated the main thread in the 'Journeys' forum with about 40 pix.

I love how the heat distortion and dust caused this to take on the character of a painting.
That's not sky and clouds in the back-ground... it's the crater rim wall!
Jackels were pretty rare...
Sunrise over the crater the next morning...
And I jumped a few days ahead just to get to these... (a few of the female lions sport these tracking collars)
