Make the lighting on the guitar brighter than the background.
The separation of foreground to background depends lighting and color and contrast. You have none of those working for you in this image. Maybe a smaller pattern for the background as it overwhelms the head of the guitar.
The colors do not help separation either.
So give lighting a try - A big "drop shadow" might help quite a bit as well.

Make the guitar larger in relation to the art board
Create some contrast w/ your background by using a layer style.
Try that for a start.
