i'm no pro but heres my take on it.
I like your second photo but it still needs something more. I assume that when creating a album called steel and stone you dont want to just shoot steel and stone.. So composition and light are key here and thats where the second photo lacks a bit and the first somewhat more..

As for the first, I just don't know what to make of it. My eye goes all over trying to find the subject. What about this bridge caught your eye? Was it the texture, the angles, the colors? It is not quite abstract enough to be pleasing to the eye as it is. Perhaps approaching it in a different angle, stepping closer or farther or with different lighting conditions can help illustrate this.
