Let's see, those two lenses would be around $13,000; I can see where your break even point would be out there ...

But, please keep all these requests in mind.

I promise you we will get these lenses. It's not a matter of if, but mostly "when."

Hmmm...very interesting point. We do check the memory cards to make sure they are clean for the next customer, but we dont' do military grade format of them. We'll have to look into an automated way of doing that. You have any quick and simple ideas?

    Thanks,
    Max

You could have a desktop set up with a card reader and just run the 'Eraser' tool every time you get a mem card back...

It's a free tool and does a fairly good job of secure wipes...

Im not trying to start a war here or anything... but I recently used another site to rent lenses. They were much cheaper then borrowlenses.com

I think I payd $46 for the first week and then only about $36 for each additional week, for an 18-200mm lense

You get what you pay for!

I will only rent from BorrowLenses.com they are the BEST! Hands down.
I have never had an issue with my rentals. I just rented a 300 2.8/ 1.4 TC/ Epson 300/ Monopod/ an extra slave 580 EXII for a Hawaii vacation, and they always offer to send the equipment a day before my rental period starts at no charge.

I've rented from a number of online place plus local pro camera stores and the service from BorrowLenses.com is superior. I always say " they make you feel like you are renting equipment from a friend". To me service is worth that $4 difference your talking about. (You mentioned you paid $46 for 18-200 for 1 week. BorrowLenses.com is $50/wk)

I paid less for each other week they kept giving me discounts. I had no problems with them at all . Originally 1 week rental turned into 3 with discounts each week... i guess both are good services.

Just wanted to let everyone know I had another wonderful experience using Borrowlenses.com

I rented 2 lenses, and they arrived on time and were in pristine condition.

This really is a great way to try new lenses, or to use ones you can't afford at the moment.

Thanks again for some great service.

Looking Forward To Testing The Nikon 14-24mm
Just wanted to say hello to Max,

Getting ready to head to Las Vegas for a week with the new Nikon D700.

Decided I really needed a nice wide angle so I rented the 14-24mm can 't wait to check it out. Hope to receive it on August 27th.

I'll be sure to follow with a review of the lens and the service and even a couple of pictures once I get back.

    Regards,
    Stephen

The 14-24 so rocks. It's awesome. Sharper than the 14mm Canon in the corners.

    I think you'll be happy.

I have a couple questions to ask...

Can I have the lens delivered to me in Oregon and ship it back from Alaska?

Reason I'm asking is for me to have the lenses before I leave for my trip, It would need to get here on a Friday, and I leave Alaska to come back to Oregon on a Saturday (1 day past the 3 week rental period). So If I need to ship it out from the same state that it was delivered to, I'd have to ship it out on the Monday after I return which would be two days past my three week rental. But if I can ship it from a different state than it was delivered to, I could ship it out on the Saturday I leave in the morning, or on the Friday before I leave (so technically a day early).

So...Can this be done? Or do I need to ship it out from the "ship to" state? (as it costs a bit more usually to ship from Alaska to the lower 48)

If you're going with BorrowLenses.com I would bet they'd be happy to help you out with that. Either by letting you ship from somewhere else, or just letting you keep it a few days extra. They were extremely helpful when I had questions and concerns, I'd suggest you just shoot them an email and ask. Worst thing they can say is no, and then I bet someone else would be happy to rent you the lens...mwink.gif

Sure, that is definitely possible and actually happens a lot of times for us. We'll just generate a label for you and you can ship from wherever you'd like.

Yes absolutely. There is a place during the checkout process where you can enter the date you want the lens. In fact, we prefer reservations, as that gives us more time to schedule orders around each other.

    Looking forward to the order.

Just found this review thread. I rented a 300mm f/4 for a charity event a couple months back. It was a pleasure to work with them and to hear the support they had for the project. The glass itself was perfect and I had no problems, whatsoever.

    Thanks, Borrowlenses.com

Here's the gallery of photos from that event/lens

I have not rented from them yet...but I have put them thru the paces of answering questions and the likes and I have done this with other rental company's and BorrowLenses.com has been extremely friendly answering all my questions even when i said I was just curious ...their answers were friendly and extremely fast responses.......I did not have time to get a lens ordered for the trip to Lexington Ky but as soon as I get back I will be reserving a lens for my Corpus Christi shoot....

Thanx Borrow lenses for the great customer service

I just got my rental. Phenomenal service by borrowlenses.com. My only qualm is that, I thought the packaging would be in a pelican case like how I am used to receiving my gear rentals. But came in safe and sound!

Good to hear it. Regarding the pelican case, what type of gear are you referring to?
