Drool in the Pool: An exercise in letting dogs swim at a public pool on the last day

This was a funny shoot. Dogs fighting over the same toy. Dogs jumping so far into the pool you wonder if they're training for the Olympics. And well... Poo. Lots and lots of Poo (strangely enough I don't think I saw any in the water).

    Great series.

Your exposure for black dogs and white dogs seems dead on correct.

The use of fill flash has separated your subject from the background very nicely - well done!!

The dogs look like they were having fun too.

Well, I was practcing the expose for the sky, drop it down a bit, and then raise the flash level technique. The event was between 5 and 8 so I had to readjust a lot. Sometimes it was hit or miss. But the black and white dogs I will have to attribute to Photoshop :) The photos before PS were not as clear.

Lots of pooh and none in the water? Well, those certainly are well trained dogs. rolleyes1.gif Seriously, nice series. With all those smiling faces and snouts, it looks like fun was had by all.

Some of the dogs just would not stop swimming, and by the end of the event, there were a LOT of pooped dogs :)

Marina - it is the end of summer up here in the midwest. The dogs were allowed into the pool only immediately before the pool was to be drained and cleaned for the winter.

Notice the use of fill flash toothumb.gif

Gotta love the Midwest. Rife with odd opportunities.

Well, I need to start relying on experience cause they seem to be blown out at times. My LCD seems to darken everything and so I need to start looking at it and saying "Oh, it's too bright" even though it looks normal.
