Vancouver Island is my home and has been for most of my life. It is also where I do most of my exploring. I arrange most of the field trips for our photography club and this always has me looking for new places to visit and new events to attend.
In July of 2007 a group of photographers from our our club boarded the 105 foot and 70 year old working freighter, the MV Lady Rose, in Port Alberni.
We would be cruising out to the Sechart Lodge in Barkley Sound to drop off kayakers and then would cruise through the Broken Islands Group to Bamfield before returning to Port Alberni that evening.
The MV Lady Rose
The view from the bow as we chug up the Alberni Inlet
The view from the wheelhouse
We went by this fishing boat pulling in his nets
Unloading kayaks and kayakers at Sechart Lodge in Barkley Sound
Cruising past kayakers playing in the protected waters of the Broken Island Group
Tied up in Bamfield for 3 hours...time to explore and stretch our legs
One of our members at Brady's Beach
Another beautiful beach
One of our fellow passengers chose to record her trip in watercolours
One of the views from the boardwalk in Bamfield Harbour
More sights from the boardwalk in Bamfield Harbour
Lawn furniture from the Bamfield IKEA
Leaving Bamfield Harbour
On the trip back some passenger sit and chat while others are happy to soak in the scenery.
