...... have not been around of late as I have been away working. Managed to shoot this little fellow, who I believe to be a Black Kite, quite common where I was but he is the same colour as everything else at this remote mine site in the Pilbara of Western Australia.....

I got quite close as this a full frame image..... D2xs Bigma at 500-mm

this is where he hunts.... judging by his colour.... found sitting on the pile of dirt to the far right of shot

I love kites. I have shooting Mississippi Kites all summer but now they have all returned or are returning to Central and South America. You have two nice poses. What surprises me is that the kite is on the ground. Most kites are always soaring in the air or perched high in a tree. What is the Pilbara? a mine?

The Pilbara is an area in Australia, inland Western Australia, where there are a lot of iron ore mining sites, BHP being the biggest. This bird was on top of a very large iron ore dirt pile which we drove up onto for a view of the area.

The red comes from the dust and gets every where.....

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
