Question about larger prints, focus issues

Hi,
I have a customer who wants to order a large (24 x 36) print of his son (picture is here: http://www.fiatsurf.com/gallery/3441457#193115855-L-LB). He ordered a 12 x 18 to start and I'm a bit worried the focus is a bit soft. I ordered some small prints of stuff I've shot and they turned out great. But, the images I chose for my test run were pretty sharp. Any advice or thoughts you could share so I don't wear out my support welcome in the future? I'm hoping the 12 x 18 turns out okay but am a bit nervous.
Thanks,
Toby

We very highly recommend our Pros make use of our Proof Delay feature.
Proof Delay allows you to review the order before it's sent to print,
make corrections and changes to the cropping as well as auto versus true
color. Best of all, you have the opportunity to totally replace any
image that is ordered, with your choice of a replacement, still allowing
you to adjust the crop and color setting after replacing it. For more
info on this, please see the links below which would eliminate any
problems in the future:

I use auto-color on all my galleries and have a proof delay set. It's just one of those borderline shots where it wasn't tack sharp, but overall is a fairly strong image. I told the customer that we should do a "wait-and-see" on the 12 x 18 and, if it looks good, can go ahead with the 24 x 36. I also sent him links to the SmugMug guarantee and the examples you provided in another post of the awesome SmugMug customer support in action. I suppose if I just submitted perfect pictures all the time, I wouldn't have these jitters!
I also let him know if there was a problem, I would have to go out and shoot them surfing again (which I don't think he'd mind).
Thanks again,
Toby
