I finally got to visit the mountain. Most of the damage has been healed by time. I only wish I could have seen it within a year or two after the eruption to have a perspective of the changes after 27 years. It was cloudy all the way up to the viewpoint and 10 minutes after this shot, the whole mountain was socked in. One of the few times that I was somewhere at the right time!:thumb

I love the sun glinting off the streams in the debris field in your photo. I chartered a helicopter ten or so years ago to fly around the devastated area and into the crater. I've never been so awed by the power of nature. A few years later, I climbed up the Monitor Ridge to the crater rim. Really cool. Your photo really captures the feel of the place.
