First of all I would like to say a Big Big thankyou to you all for all the help you have given me. However, I have taken out the Amy Renfrey and I have listened to all the advice. I use the Av on my Canon400d but I am still having problems with the aperture as I cannot see on the LCD screen what is showing as the light does not show the true reflect. So to mkake sure I get the photo I want I go through a load of different settings. But as you all good pros know I have missed the shot I was aiming at.
I appreciate I must keek trying but a wee bit of help would not go wrong.
Cheers
Bob

What are you trying to acomplish? Are you trying to make sure you get all you want in your depth of field (check out the DOF preview, does the 400 have that?). Or are you just trying to find the best 'setting' to shoot at? I vastly favor small DOF so I'm always shooting at the smallest aperture unless I want some more sharpness or DOF then I'll go f4 or f8 but always keep in mind the 1/focal-length for your speed (so if shooting at 500mm you want 1/500s _at least_).
Ever hear of Optimus Zoom? Me either.
