Best "paperless office" software

I've been trying to go paperless with all of my personal stuff at home now for quite a while. I've tried several different peices of software that claim to make it easier to do this. I am wondering if anyone here uses this kind of software, and if so what it is.

Here is what I am looking for in a software package:
  • Similar features as found in a DAM.
    • Tagging documents with metadata
    • Using a catalog database for keeping track of files, instead of a folder structure.
  • OCR built in? This isn't a must. I can always scan the documents and OCR them using a different program, but it would be nice to have this in one place.
  • Index the files - By this I mean take advantage of the OCR I am doing on the scans so that I can type in a search term and it would first check the metadata, then search the text of the documents.

Has anyone ever used OmniPage PaperPort? That is the one I am trying out right now, and while I think it will do what I need it seems overly confusing. I'm looking for something a little more simple, but still with the features I listed above.

So, anyone? :scratch

Not a direct answer, but I know there are several IMatch users doing similar things. It apparently works quite well in managing other document types.

It's been so long since I've used OmniPage, I've forgotten most everything and it was so many versions ago that knowledge is useless anyway.

    Go with Paperport.
Paperport is a great product, I have been using it for many years and highly recommend it.

Well I use it for both business and personal documents. I scan them in and cataogize them and put them into files that way I have easy access and don't have to hunt through draws in a filing cabinet.
