How to get a full LPS entry pic size?

I notice the image I posted up in LPS 12 is only 400x600 - I checked the link and it is a "large" but only displays as 400x600 in my gallery as well (even with :arge selected).

I would appreciate some wisdom on this, as I thought a large was always 600x800

I think this will get you there: http://www.dgrin.com/showpost.php?p=636683&postcount=34

If that doesn't work, it's on this page - #34:

BTW - do I need to leave "share photos" turned on in it's resident gallery?

Share is turned off at the moment. I don't really understand if there are any "risks" entailed with leaving it turned on - are there any?

Thanks,
Dane

Your pic is correct. Portrait is different than landscape.

You only need to leave external links on. Share just makes it easier, but hiding it won't break the link.

    Thanks for clarifying that, David.

I thought it was 800 px on the longest side. Then what got me wondering was the other vertical pics posted that are 700-800 px, so I reviewed the rules and saw that 800x600 vert is indeed OK, but requires a custom size. So I made it bigger - looks better, I think.

800 vertical is legal, but the cap on a Smugmug L is only 600. There are a couple approaches to getting an 800 vertical image:

    1. Enable orginals on the gallery and post the image with a -800x800 extension rather than a -L extension.

    2. This is what I do: I have a special private gallery with -O enabled. I scale the image to the final resolution in photoshop (say 600x800 or whatever), watermark it, and upload it to that gallery. Note: if you want a watermark, you need to do it yourself because Smugmug doesn't watermark -O images. I also have a public gallery of competition entries to which I upload the full rez version. The public gallery has originals turned off.

Thanks for the tips, Liquid Air.

I used this SM Help link to resize the image - it was really easy:
