    Fabulous!

The Badlands has been on my list of places to visit for quite a while. You just helped push it up closer to the top.

Wow! If this is just the PRE shootout, I can't wait to see the images that come back from the shootout itself! Amazing! clap.gif

Dave, these are awesome. I've been to the Badlands once about 13 years ago, and I couldn't make it look 1/10th that nice. Looking forward to your Devil's Tower shots.

    Thanks guys.

Devil's tower was really tough. The skies were very hazy while we were right by the tower.
I did manage to get one shot with blue skies from the road on the way back to the highway.

Dave, are those the remains of pulse-type contrails from the Top Secret Aurora scramjet aircraft in the Devil's Tower shot?

I was told to keep my mouth shut about those "clouds":D

On we go to the Tetons and Yellowstone.

The skies have been hazy all week. I hope this clears up soon.
Colors are starting by the water. Hopefully this is true in Glacier.
I tried to get an Ansel shot of the Snake River in the Tetons, but with the
skies the way they were, and trying to do the post work on the laptop,
I won't even post the B&W til I get home and can do it up on the Mac.

    Here's a color version.

    197990015-L.jpg

    On to Yellowstone.

There were a lot of cars stopped, so we stopped to see what was what.
There was a female moose with youngin feeding down in some brush.
I never saw the young one, but we did snap a few of mom. Here's one of em.

    197990038-L.jpg

At another bunch of cars we found this guy.
He said he was looking for a guy named Dean, said he wanted to have him for lunch.:D

THe internet connection is painfully slow here.
I'll try to post more in the days to come, but who knows if I'll be able to.

Loving your first shot of the mountain peaks. Good news about the leaves changing! Since Skippy is on the road right now, I have started channeling her and thinking, "5 more sleeps to go!"

That moose looks like someone I know.

Ok, let's call this "The day of the elk"

The internet is running slow so I only upload a few shots.
This guy just wanted to get back to the woods and away from all the people.
He walked across the stream, down the shore for about a hundred feet, then back
across the stream, across the road and into the woods.

    Great series of images, Dave.

I think we took the same route - Bad Lands, Devil's Tower, etc. I really enjoyed the road trip out and back as I can see you did also.

I think I shot that same elk as well:D:D Only mine was after the sun was down for 10-15 minutes.

I had the same trouble with shooting Devil's Tower during the day also. Here is my take of Devil's Tower - http://Pathfinder.smugmug.com/photos/203892292-M.jpg

A very different look at the tower Path.

Kate and I drive to most of the places we go. As the old saying goes, "getting there is half the fun."

Nick. Just looked at your work. Fantastic shots - I love the air show shots, and your waterfalls. Cats always make good subjects.

If the boys have a mini minnesota shoot out you should drive up for the day. Needs to be something exciting, though. Not just a bunch of eagles. They're easy targets, like squirrels here. Dave doesn't do ice fishing, though. Brrrr.......
