I have a question regarding my laptop. I am traveling and will be for another 6-12 months. i bought a laptop in may but decided not to bring it with me (dumb decision in hindsight) on my trip. I know the laptop will depreciate while i am gone, but do i need to worry aobut anything else. ie, not having it plugged in or something like that? The more i think about it i should probably have my friend (the laptop is stored at his house) sell it for me. In the mean time is there anything i should have my friend do to the laptop?

i hope this makes sense

cheers,

Dave

The only thing I would do is remove the battery. Any time you won't be using electronics for that long it's always good to remove the electrical sources, be it AC or battery, since there is always a very small trickle going from the battery through the electronics.

Just have your friend make sure the laptop is shutdown properly, then remove teh battery and store the battery and laptop in a dry, cool place. It should be fine until you get back!

    Hope this helps!
