Steller Sea Lions and an Eagle
Steller Sea Lions on a buoy where Auke Bay meets Lynn Canal along the inland passage in southeastern Alaska with an American Bald Eagle on top of the buoy.
I wish I could say that was the way I shot it. However, the eagle wasn't that obliging. The original photo was taken with a Cormorant on top of the buoy.
The eagle came from this photo taken in Auke Bay.
Here is a closer shot at just the Steller Sea Lions.
I haven't had time to upload the full size photos with the EXIF data, but will try to do it later this week and then I will link the images to the EXIF data with the actual photos.
In the meantime, the Stellar Sea Lions were photographed with a Canon 5D using a Canon EF 100-400 lens. The eagles were shot with the same lens on a Canon Digital Rebel XTi.
Comments and suggestions are always welcome.
PS: I am back in Seattle from Alaska and working my way over to the 2007 Shootout in Glacier NP. I'm looking forward to meeting everyone who is going.

The color is real. ...and thank goodness for that. The background was typical of the color I saw in Alaska for the past two weeks. Out of 14 days, we had maybe 2-2½ days with some blue sky. I was lucky and did get to see Denali (Mt McKinley) with some scattered clouds. We were told that people only get to see it one day out of five so we were there on the lucky day.

Thanks, Ric. I wasn't trying to take away from the eagles. Anytime I can catch a mating pair, I will definitely take it and run. I also stopped by the Eagle Center in Ketchikan, Alaska and got some good shots there. I will post one of them a little later tonight.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thanks, Harry. ...and yes, you're right about the reach. I would have liked about double what I had (400 on XTI = 640), but would have settle for a 1200mm and while you're at it made that in a f/2.8 as well.
