Arizona wedding shooter Kevin King just may have invented the Strobist equivalent of the flux capacitor. The radiopopper wireless synch is said to bridge your Nikon CLS or Canon E-TTL and extends the range to up to 500 feet.

I thought this link might be usefull for those who are not yet strobists but would like to.

I visit Strobist everyday.
That is, there is no product, nor even a final design schematic or picture of a final product. This is an announcement of an intention to begin a company to design, build, and get past the Federal Communication Comission a product sometime, maybe, hopefully by next year.
It is a great idea that a lot of folks would love to have - why didn't Canon do this anyway??!!
It will be interesting to see how it come out. Don't hold your breathe meanwhile.

As for why both the Canon and Nikon systems are optical: dealing with the radio regulations in all the countries where they sell cameras is just too big a nightmare.
I had actually looked at the Radiopopper site about a week ago and there was only a video from the guy discussing what he wanted to do. It was really long, at least 60 minutes and he never showed a prototype. He just paced back and forth across the screen rambling about what he wanted to do. If it was me, I'd be showing my working model in front of everyone to show it was real. So if he really can produce a product and get FCC approval before Christmas, that would be awesome. But I'll also be on the lookout for the flying monkeys to appear from my backside.
So since this is most likely vaporware, my eBay triggers will be replaced by Elinchrome Skyports that should be arriving from B&H tomorrow.

and Rui Leal Lighting Modes blog.
This is good new for my bull fighting shoot in May and September.
Hope this is useful for you all.
Have you tried the Cactus V2 wireless triggers they recommend on the Strobist site? I can get mine to trigger at about 30-40 feet or so after rigging an external antenna. But they are not ETTL of course, strictly manual flash firing.
If/when, Radio Poppers become available. I will give them a try, for sure.

New features ...
I will wait until the new year, and then place my order, as they seem very appealing now. Particularly to owners of Alien Bs etc.
