Total number of hits

Why do statistics not include total number of hits? It only seems to have total number of hits for this month and starts over every month. I'd like total number of hits displayed on the site.

Hi Dennis - you can do it. Click "tutorials" in the Dgrin navbar, then scroll to the bottom of that page - you'll see a link for statcounter. Get it and install it - easy to do :) And, it's free!

I'll second the statcounter. Loaded about a month ago. Glad I came across it here on Dgrin. thumb.gif

    Hi Shane,

I noticed your counter is tipped to one side. Andy posted how to get it centered somewhere. Do a search if it matters to you.

Not sure what you are referring to "tipped to one side".

    Andy,
To get total number of hits you'll have to purchase a fairly substantial license to statcounter -- the free version only has 100 log entries.

Again, please come up with a data file alternative to the graphic display of stats. I'm not as much concerned with where the hits came from as what are the totals for each image. When I had only a few dozen galleries, the graphics were fine. But now I find it very difficult to first find galleries (see post pleading for alphabetizing) and when I do, I have to go to yet another graphical page to see what's what in a gallery...

    Thanks,
    Brandon

I'm pretty sure you get 500 now with the free account, and that only means you'll be able to see the last 500 entries. The total count will be always there, you just won't be able to see the details of what page was loaded on all of them, only the last 500.

The details will not be there for the last 500, it used to be 100.

Yes indeed, it's now 500, so I fixed it. But still doesn't give me what smugmug could. I don't need IP and search words and stuff like that, though that is also very interesting. I want an easy to read list of non-thumb hits by gallery/picture. I'd prefer something I could download into a database or spreadsheet, but even something like what they do over on deviantart.com would be more useful than the graphics we have now.
