After my vacation, I needed to unwind. A walk in the prairie with my pooch and my 30D with the 300 f/4 did just that.

Here's two I liked.

Lucky catch! This time of day and all that grass.

Seems like you had a productive walk in the prairie.

Color and compo make the first shot my favorite. Good job with the focus picking your way through. thumb.gif

    Basic question here
I'm guessing you used manual focus on the deer . . . ? Yeah, I know that putting a question mark at the end of a declarative sentance don't make it a question. Take that, durn grammar nazis.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Thanks everyone...
    ...for your comments! :D

AF was used for the deer shot.

The 300s relatively short minimum focus distance make it very well suited for handheld in the field close-ups.

I have always used this lens with the 1.4 tc attached and am just now realizing how good it is when used by itself. A great lens that I will never part with.

Nothing like unwinding with Nature! Number one is most excellent and tell those damn branches to get out of the way so I can enjoy number two! mwink.gif
